Golfing Tips for the Upcoming Cold Season

As long as there is no snow or ice on the ground, there is an opportunity to get yourself out to a golf course, or at least to your yard, to practice some golf! As the weather gets chillier the next few weeks, it is important to keep in mind some tips and tricks that will help you to still enjoy the game and be the best player you can be, even in lower temperatures. Here are some things you should keep in mind:

  • Bundle up.

First and foremost, make sure that you are prepared with appropriate layers. Be sure to wear, or bring, a jacket or vest, wear long socks and don’t forget to pack your gloves. The more comfortable you are in layers, the less of a distraction the cold will be.

  • Walk, don’t cart.

If you are able to walk the course and get in some additional exercise, definitely do so. Walking will help to pump up your heart rate and ultimately keep you warmer throughout the game.

  • Use softer balls.

There are some golf balls on the market that are softer than others, and the colder it gets, the more important it is to use a softer ball. The softer balls are much easier to compress.
